The German Research Foundation (DFG) is setting up 14 new research training groups (GRK) to further strengthen scientists in early career phases. The new GRK will initially be funded for four and a half years from spring 2022 with a total funding of 76 million euros. Among the new alliances is the research training group "Emotional Learning and Memory" under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Lars Schwabe.
Emotions have a great influence on learning and memory processes. This influence can contribute to various mental disorders, although the relationship is not yet fully understood. The research training group “Emotional Learning and Memory” therefore focuses on the research of those psychological and neural mechanisms that underlie emotional learning and memory processes. The researchers involved want to focus primarily on negative emotions and transfer their basic scientific findings to clinical application as quickly as possible. In addition to the department of Cognitive Psychology and Labs from the UKE, the departments of Prof. Dr. Tania Lincoln and Prof. Dr. Anja Riesel are involved.
Congratulations!
